TIGERFEST has been proven to attract a diverse audience and it is hoped the event will appeal to, and serve Brampton and neighbouring municipalities wide varieties of cultures and communities.

It’s no secret that the wholesome family entertainment that professional wrestling provides is experiencing an all time high in popularity around the world. So with this in mind, TIGERFEST has utilized the popularity of professional wrestling, the marketability of wrestling legend Tiger Jeet Singh and his son former WWE Superstar Tiger Ali Singh to promote Canada’s only free wrestling extravaganza in support of a number of charities.

This addition to Canada Day features live performances by Deep Jandu, Dhol Circle, NYPD Toronto (Bhangra), Jadoo Entertainment (Bollywood Dancers) and the singing of the national anthem by Prita Chhabra. Headline performance will be Canada’s own HEDLEY with special guest Anjulie.

6:00 PM is Bell Time for Wrestling. TIGERFEST will culminate in a two hour exhibition of live professional wrestling with Tiger Jeet Singh making a special guest appearance and Tiger Ali Singh wrestling in the main event. The blockbuster line up will also include former WWE Superstars Viscera weighing 450 lbs and standing 6’8”, hardcore legend Steve Corino, Darkko weighing 350 lbs and standing 6’ll”, TNA superstar Sonjay Dutt, Harry ‘Bulldog’ Smith (son of WWE Hall of Famer British Bulldog), former world champion Rhyno, Tyson, former TNA Knockout Angelina Love and a host of other Superstars.

The audience will also be treated to a one on one meet and greet with the Tigers and other Superstars upon the conclusion of the event including special time keeper Canadian Olympian and 2010 Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist in wrestling Ohenewa Akuffo.

We look forward to meeting the community and moving the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation another step closer to achieving its objectives.”

It will be a day of fun for the whole family with amusement rides, splash pad, mini putt, petting zoo, paddle boats, air bounce rides, children’s entertainment and FIREWORKS!

Special Guests this year include Tiger Jeet Singh and Tiger Ali Singh: Both world famous wrestling Ambassadors, Humanitarians and Philanthropists. Aside from their numerous international achievements and accolades, father and son entered the record books after both were inducted together to Milton’s Walk of Fame and again both receiving the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medals. They have now set another goal and that is to bring joy and opportunity to the youth around the world by promoting their message of Stay in school, Stay away from drugs and Stay Tiger-Fit.

“Both my father and I are thrilled to be part of this year’s festival,” says Tiger Ali Singh. “It’s an opportunity to further bridge the understanding among diversity and showcase the beautiful heritage of Asians and South Asians living in Canada. We are grateful for Halton Regional Police to taking on this initiative and look forward to supporting them in the future.”

Master of Ceremonies will be Indira Niadoo-Harris. This event is part of the Asian and South Asian Heritage Month celebration going on across the country. Asian Heritage month officially began in Canada in May 2002, when the Government of Canada signed an official declaration to designate May as Asian Heritage Month. This month long period allows all Canadians to acknowledge the long and rich history of Asian Canadians and their contributions to Canada. It also provides an opportunity for Canadians across the country to reflect on and celebrate the contributions of Canadians of Asian and South Asian Heritage to the growth and prosperity of Canada.

This Halton Event is as a result of a partnership made up of the Halton Regional Police Service, The Halton Multicultural Council, Halton District School Board, The Halton Catholic District school Board, and various community partners.

The day’s events will include performances from Bhangra dancers and Dhol drummer, Children from Tiger Jeet Singh Public School band and choir members, Korean girls dance group, Taiko drumming from Do Kon Daiko, Chinese Lion dancers and demonstration from The Cead Bua fighting faction club. Rakhine Lotus Flower Dance (Budda Puzania) performed by the Myanmar Cultural Association of Brampton. Milton and Georgetown Seniors Flying Rainbow Tai Chi Group.

Visitors will also be able to attend the various cultural information booths being represented by volunteers who represent a large quantity of Asian and South Asian cultures. There will be various local vendors who will be offering cultural jewellery and other goods for sale. There will also be a children’s craft corner set up.

Finally, lunch is being supplied by Funky Thai and the Alemilia group for a nominal cost to provide light refreshment.

WHAT: Halton Regional Police Host Asian Heritage Festival

I would like to share this award with three of my guests that have accompanied me here tonight, Troy Newton and my son’s Tiger Jr. and Garry Hans, who is also a Detective Constable with Halton Regional Police.”

“The highlight of the evening was honouring Mr. Tiger Jeet Singh and his fabulous community contributions,” said Kim Jenkinson of Halton Multicultural Council. “Congratulation Mr. Singh from HMC, we appreciate the great leadership you and your Foundation have shown in the community.”

“I’m always filled with great pride and it gives me goose bumps whenever somebody else recognizes my father,” said Tiger Jeet Singh Jr. “On behalf of my Father and our Foundation, we would like to convey our gratitude to Mayor Gord Krantz of Milton, Mayor Susan Fennell of Brampton along with their respective city staff members plus Jennifer Laughton, VP Development at McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton for providing their wonderful support in hosting our Foundation’s annual charity events Miracle on Main Street in Milton & Hamilton during the month of December and TigerFest in Brampton on Canada’s Day.”

The 2013 HMC Gala was one of the prestigious award ceremonies the Region has seen in a while. In attendance to offer their congratulations to Tiger Jeet Singh were Mayor Gordon Krantz of Milton, MP Terence Young who also presented Tiger a special certification from the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, The Honourable Jason Kenney, PC, MP along with MPP Kevin Flynn and many members of Oakville City Council.

Over 300 guests enjoyed an evening filled with performances from various cultures including – African Drumming by Akwabe Cultural Exchange, Do Kon Daiko Japanese drumming, award winning Bhangra dance performers Nachdi Jawani , Latin dancer Katherine Adrainzen and Halton Region Chinese Canadian Association Lion Dancers.

The Halton Multicultural Council went all out this year and everyone in attendance seemed to have really appreciated the event.
