Record breaking success at Miracle on Main!
In support of McMaster Children’s Hospital, Halton Women’s Place, Salvation Army, Halton Learning Foundation & Hospital for Sick Children
Milton, ON – The 9th annual Miracle on Main was an overwhelming record-breaking success, raising over $300,000 made up from donations and sponsorships, led this year by presenting sponsors, Deloitte and Accenture. The festivities started with the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation (TJSF) donating $20,000 to six elementary and two high schools in support of mental health, coding, wellness room, art workshop, breakfast program, literacy, classroom technology and inclusive classrooms.
“A lot of people coming together as one, is the reason behind the success for the event”, says Tiger Jeet Singh Jr., President of TJSF. “We are grateful to our volunteers, performers, public schools, Milton community, dignitaries, partners and sponsors both locally, as well as not from Milton, believing in TJSF’s passion to support children”.
Since 2009, $2.3 million made up from donations and sponsorships has been raised in support of Salvation Army, Halton Women’s Place, SickKids and McMaster Children’s Hospital. Since 2015, $50,000 has been donated to public schools via the Halton Learning Foundation in support of initiatives where funding falls short.
On a day where it was so cold that both the sound system and snow making machine froze, Miltonians were warmed by the spirit of giving. Throughout the morning, Halton Police band, Milton Choristers, school choirs and dance clubs performed on stage to entertain onlookers, while the remainder of the closed off portion of Main Street was taken over by a 60 foot high ferris wheel, petting zoo, pony and train rides, free food and hot chocolate, snow carving, vehicle displays by both Milton Fire Dept and Halton Police including their SWAT vehicle and more.
The ‘Miracle on Main’ experience spanned over two months, starting off with Tiger Jr. attending several school assemblies, Miracle on Main event in Milton, private movie screening at the headquarters of IMAX, where 200 guests were invited from Halton Women’s Place and McMaster Children’s Hospital, finally culminating with a second event in the front lobby of McMaster Children’s Hospital, providing an opportunity for TJSF to bring a little Christmas cheer to children that must stay in the hospital over the holidays.
“We were absolutely thrilled to host Miracle on Main Street at McMaster Children’s Hospital,” says Jennifer Laughton, VP Development at McMaster Children’s Hospital. “TJSF are wonderful partners and brought so much joy and spirit of the holiday season to the children that have to remain in the hospital over the holidays due to illness. We can’t thank the Tigers enough for choosing to support children and our hospital in this very special way.”
