Hamilton, ON – The Miracle on Main initiative has raised millions through donations and sponsorships for underprivileged families, local charities and public schools, in addition to purchasing thousands of toys for the young patients at McMaster Children’s Hospital and SickKids.
It is a Christmas carnival with entertainment and a massive delivery of toys for the children admitted at McMaster Children’s Hospital over the holidays. The entire delivery is made up by the generous donation of new toys collected earlier in the week from students at the Miracle on Main events in Milton and Brampton. It is the single largest donation of toys the hospital receives in a year.
Last year, Halton Regional Police Services merged Toys for Tots into TJSF’s Miracle on Main Street and this year an exciting partnership will be formed with Peel Regional Police Toys for Tots and Cram the Cruiser in hope of supporting more families at MacKids than ever before.
One of the main attractions is former WWE wresting superstar Tiger Ali Singh. You would think standing at 6’4” and weighing 285lbs would be enough to attract attention, but Tiger takes it to a new level. For the past 10 years he’s used his celebrity to promote inclusion and attends the Miracle on Main event wearing a red Santa coat, red turban, his world championship belt over one shoulder and bellows out “Merry Christmas” for all to hear. He promotes respect for those celebrating Christmas religiously, as well as, for those celebrating socially as a festive time of year. His motto, which has been adopted by the foundation, named after his father, wrestling legend Tiger Jeet Singh, “Sickness and poverty don’t discriminate; neither should the spirit of giving”.
In addition, since 2015, the foundation has donated $100,000 to public schools to support initiatives such as mental health, inclusive classrooms, literacy, coding and breakfast programs.
This year’s event will take place in the front lobby of McMaster Children’s Hospital in Hamilton on Friday, December 13h from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Wrestling’s living legend Tiger Jeet Singh will be in attendance, along with Maple Leafs Alumni Peter Ing, Ric Natress and members from the Hamilton Tiger Cats.
The foundation will also be promoting its 11th annual Miracle on Main event in Milton on December 9th and its inaugural event in Brampton on December 11th.
