about TOY DRIVE

Seven years ago, TJSF teamed up with HRPS Toys for Tots, with the shared goal of reaching more families in need across Halton.

Last year’s event alone successfully raised over $1,100,000 through combined donations and sponsorships. The donations raised each year go towards the purchase of toys, food and life essentials for families experiencing poverty and injustice via sixty different charities spread throughout Halton, and Women Shelters as well as children facing life-threating illnesses admitted at SickKids and McMaster Children’s Hospital. Furthermore, since 2015, TJSF has donated $800,000 to elementary schools throughout Halton, supporting various initiatives such as inclusive classrooms, literacy programs, breakfast initiatives, mental health support, and gift cards.

One of the main attractions is former WWE superstar Tiger Ali Singh. Standing at 6’4” and weighing 285lbs would be enough to attract attention, but Tiger takes it to a new level. For the past 15 years he’s used his celebrity to promote inclusion and is invited to speak at school assemblies and attends the Miracle on Main event wearing a red Santa coat, red turban and his world championship belt over one shoulder. He promotes respect for those celebrating the holidays religiously, as well as, for those celebrating it socially as a festive time of year. His motto, which has been adopted by TJSF, namesake for his father, wrestling legend Tiger Jeet Singh, “Sickness and poverty don’t discriminate; neither should the spirit of giving.”

The HRPS has led winter holiday toy donation drives in support of underserved families since 1999. What was initially known as Toys for Tots has since evolved into Miracle on Main Street. With the partnership of the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation, and this year, our first official time partnering as a trio with Peel Regional Police, the holiday fundraiser has expanded to reach more families than ever before.
