In front of a packed assembly of students ranging from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 7, the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation along with their partner, the Halton District School Board, successfully launched their Japan Relief Campaign on Wednesday, April 20 at Tiger Jeet Singh Public School.
In addition to students at the school purchasing over 300 wrist bands, the assembly was filled with several inspirational presentations prepared by the students along with Tiger Jeet Singh Jr. informing how they can leave messages at tigerjeetsinghfoundation.com under ‘Messages of Hope’ for the Japanese children.
The assembly was concluded with a very heartfelt plea from Tiger Jeet Singh for the students to not forget the aftershocks and continued devastation in Japan, and to send messages on the foundation’s website that will go a long way in providing hope for the young lives overseas.
The Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation is keen to support students and schools in the affected areas of Japan and have already sold approximately 5,500 wrist bands, with 5,000 more on back order and another 10,000 bands being shipped in.
The wrist bands are being sold for $5 in Halton Region first, but will also be offered across Canada and internationally to support the campaign. The Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation is actively seeking corporate donations to support the student efforts as well.

Background:
Tiger Jeet Singh’s connection to Japan is longstanding. He has spent the majority of his 45-year wrestling career in Japan and his son Tiger Jr. made his professional debut close to twenty years ago in Tokyo. Both fondly refer to Japan as their second home and have also held the country, and even more so the children of Japan, in a special place in their hearts. That is why this event focuses on the students’ contribution along with corporate support, to provide emergency supplies and relief to help those young lives following this disaster.
The Foundation will provide Halton schools with customized red and white wrist bands symbolizing the colors of the Canadian and Japanese flags, and decorated in a manner to demonstrate support for the students in Japan. There will be an inscription of “KIDZ 4 KIDZ – United We Rise” illustrating the children supporting one another and paying tribute to the Japanese flag of the ‘Rising’ Sun. There will also be a Japanese inscription, which translated means “We Pray for Japan”.
