On Saturday, June 4th as part of Milton’s Downtown Street Festival, Tigers Wrestle Fest will return by popular demand presented by Scotia Bank.

While the Milton Street Festival has been taking place over the past four years attracting between 20,000 to 30,000 visitors each year, this number was blown away last year, due in part to the addition of the inaugural Tigers Wrestle Fest with over 50,000 people attending.

Proceeds from Tiger Fest 2011 will go towards the Japan Relief Campaign, supporting the Salvation Army, Halton Learning Foundation and visiting children at McMaster Children’s Hospital.

This year Tiger Fest organizers are very happy to announce the addition of ‘Tigers High School Challenge’, which will pit top student athletes (4 male and 4 female) from each of the three local high schools in a strongman style competition. The young athletes will participate from 12:00 – 2:00 PM in a very challenging array of events that will culminate with each team pulling a bus across the finish line!

A demonstration of CrossFit and boxing by FirePower CrossFit will be performed from 2:30 – 3:30 PM that will showcase an unconventional alternative to the standard practices for fitness and exercise.

Entertaining the crowd between 3:30 – 4:30 PM will be performances from pop recording artist Prita Chhabra, and Milton’s own soul singer/songwriter Khalel.

A familiar face to Milton, Prita performed at both Milton’s Santa Parade and Troy’s Toy Drive in 2010, and recently appeared to speak about multiculturalism at both EC Drury high school and Tiger Jeet Singh public school in Milton. A well-known name in both Toronto and New York, Khalel has been featured on two FLOW 93.5 FM compilations, in addition to having two of his tracks receive top 3 positions in FLOW’s “Top 8 @ 8” fan requested countdowns.

The event will culminate with a two hour exhibition of live professional wrestling put on by Squared Circle Wrestling; Bell Time will be 5:00 PM.

There will also be a few surprise guest appearances by former WWE and TNA Superstars that will join the Tigers at the conclusion of the wrestling event at approximately 7:30 PM to sign autographs on specially designed Tiger Fest t-shirts produced by Desi Wear. Proceeds from the sale of merchandise will go to local charities.

There will be a minimum donation of $5 for seating at the event with proceeds going to support the local Salvation Army, while standing and watching from Main Street will be FREE.

Tiger Fest organizers are also asking the public to either drop off non perishable canned goods in advance at their local Scotia Bank, or bring them along to fill up the bus that will deliver all items to the Salvation Army.

“This very generous and welcoming community is blessed with an abundance of talented, young student athletes from many fields of endeavor,” explains Tiger Jr., President of the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation. “We are going to give local and area residents the opportunity to come out and see our best young stars in action, while also giving everyone the opportunity to help worthy charities.”

“We look forward to meeting the community, raising the profile of some very deserving young people and moving the Tiger Jeet Singh Foundation another step closer to achieving its financial objectives.”
